ABOUT THE STUDIO LOCATION

The Architects' House in Old Riga,
at Torņa Street 11, belonging to the Latvian Union of Architects, is one of the most unique buildings that was built in the 17th century near the old city fortification wall. During the Swedish rule, a passage was built between Torņa and Trokšņu Streets, which is why the building was named "Swedish Gate".

The building was purchased by the Society of Architects in the 1920s.
When the building was rebuilt in 1953 according to the project of architect A. Reinfelds, premises were created on the roof floor on the Torņa Street side for an architectural art studio, which operated successfully with interruptions until the end of the 20th century.

Since April 2004, the Drawing Studio of the House of Architects has resumed its operations, but currently the drawing studio premises are located on the opposite side of the street - directly opposite the Swedish Gate and the House of Architects itself, at Torņa Street 4, in the
Jēkaba Barracks.
